The third film in the Toy Story saga, produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney Pictures, has won the Oscar for best animated film last night.
Toy Story 3, directed by Lee Unkrich, is about Woody, Buzz and the other toy friends coming to terms with an uncertain future as their owner is leaving for college. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack reprised their original roles.

Toy Story 3, the film that broke the record as the biggest opening day in North America for an animated film is also the highest-grossing film of 2010 worldwide and the third animated film in history to be nominated for Best Picture for an Accademy Award after “Beauty and the Beast” and “Up”.

The film was also up for other nominations this year – Best Original Song, Best Sound Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay – and won Best Original Song with “We belong Together” composed by Randy Newman, beating Alan Menkin‘s song for Rapunzel.
