Events: A look at Barney's Electric Holiday

If you happen to be in New York this Xmas season be sure to stop at Barney's to experience the magic of the Disney's Electric Holiday.

Classic characters and personalities of the fashion worlds have been mixed together in a brand new cartoon short created for this event and the drawings an sketches adorn the entire store. A selection of vintage Disney memorabilia is also available to the public.

Books: Brave Little Golden books

Two new Little Golden Books devoted to Disney Pixar new film Brave are now available in US stores. One contains 3D images from the movie, the other (shown below) has brand new 2D illustrations.

Collectables: Mickey Vinyl figurines by PI.

Here are two great vinyl figures recently released by PI. of the immortal Mickey Mouse. These two are Mickey dressed up like Pinocchio and a vintage Mickey.

Other figures in the series feature mickey as a Robot and as a Porcelain vase, but these are the two really standing out.

Xmas Collectables: Mickey's Xmas Carol picture disc (1983)

It's Christmas time again and like every other year we will be showcasing some great Disney memorabilia related to this festivity. Today we go back on the series of Disney Picture discs released in the early eighties by Disney Records in the US, UK and Italy with this disc from Mickey Christmas Carol, the short movie inspired by Dickens' novel.

Mickey Christmas Carol was released in cinemas more or less at the same time in 1983 when this picture disc was also available in stores. To check other picture discs in this series, including among others Snow White, Cinderella and Bambi click HERE.

Google celebrates Mary Blair

Google celebrates the 100th birthday of Mary Blair today with a coulourful, eye-catching doodle inspired by the art and flair of the late Disney artist.
Born Mary Robinson on October 21, 1911, Mary Blair attended the Chouinard Art Institute in L.A., joined Disney in 1940, working on jems and masterpieces such as "The Three Caballeros", "Alice in Wonderland", "Cinderella", "Peter Pan", "Dumbo" and "Lady and the Tramp", and later on brought her unique style to the popular theme-park attraction, "It’s a Small World".

Happy birthday, Mary Blair.
